Staged Still life
My still life photos are of old cameras. They were given to me by grandfather because he knows how much photography means to me. The first photograph is of the old polaroid and the old video camera. I placed the polaroid in the foreground and the video camera in the background to give the photo depth. The studio lights are coming into the picture from the left and so the shadow of the polaroid is off to the middle of the composition. I believe that the shallow depth of field is a stronger composition because it gives more of a sense of space and allows for the audience to determine what is in the foreground and background.
found still life
I found my still life photos in the ceramics studio. In the second set of photos, of the bisque-ware pieces, all the pieces were scattered around the sink area. I took the shallow depth of field from a lower point of view than the large depth of field. The light came from the windows and there were shadows on some of the pieces that were blocked from light by other pieces.
